A common misconception is that the replacing the lower Seals, Scraper and Orings on the Main Landing Gear Strut is considered to be a Strut "Reseal". To "Reseal" the strut, and consider it so, the oring on the Cylinder Head must also be replaced.
The main reason that the oring on the Cylinder Head is not replaced is due to the fact that the entire strut has to be removed in order to replace the oring. In some cases, the upper strut or Cylinder Head oring is not leaking air yet, or fluid leaks are not able to be detected because of limited inspection visibility.
Not replacing the Cylinder Head oring during Strut Reseals can cause the strut to deflate and or leak Hydraulic Fluid.... and this almost always happens at a most inopportune time.
This problem described above is eliminated with the installation of the Access Panel Kit. The enlarged access hole will allow for oring replacement in the Cylinder Head without removal of the Main Landing Gear Strut(s).
