Here are pictures of one of the Main Landing Gear Strut out of the PA-28-181, our Prototype Aircraft.
The picture on the left is just after we removed the Strut and the picture on the right is just before we installed the strut. As seen in the Environmental Protection section of our web site, we had to replace the Strut Cylinder Head due to corrosion.
With the larger access hole, servicing is much more user friendly and inspections can be performed in greater detail!
The OEM servicing hole is on the Left and the new enlarged servicing hole is on the Right.
Post STC and strut installation with Cylinder Head removed.
NOTE: The Cover Plate covers ALL of the rivets used for installation.
