Frequently Asked Questions

After installing the Access Panel Kit, do I ever have to remove the Main Landing Gear for reseal?

Nope!!!

The Access Panel Kit will allow the strut to be "resealed" without having to remove the strut again.

How much money will this save me over the life of the Aircraft?

By not having to remove and install the Main Landing Gear for a simple reseal, you will save upwards of $1,000.00 per each reseal!!

Does the Cover Panel cover the rivets?

Yes!

The Stainless Steel Cover Panel will conceal all the rivets used for the installation.

What is the dome on the Cover Plate for?

The dome on the Cover Plate is designed to meet the clearance dimensions for the Main Strut servicing valve. The servicing valve and cap protrude slightly above the upper wing surface when the Main Gear is installed.

Can the Cover Plate be painted?

Yes. Your FBO or A&P  technician should be able to match your existing paint color. The Cover Plate would need to be lightly scuffed and thoroughly cleaned prior to painting.

How long does the installation take?

An A&P Technician can remove and install the left and right Main Landing Gear in about 5 hours. The STC Access Panel Kit installation will take about 1.5 to 3 hours per side.

Should I replace the Main Landing Gear attach hardware during the STC installation?

Absolutely.

Piper mandatory Service Bulletin (SB) 1375C (as revised) requires periodic replacement of Main Landing Gear attachment hardware.

during the Access Panel kit installation is the perfect time to comply with this SB.
